Samanala Mountain

Samanala Kanda or Sri Pada Kanda in our country is one of the most amazing mountains in the world. It is also of great religious and historical significance. It is no secret that this magnificent mountain has been famous internationally since time immemorial. 
This mountain is the pinnacle of Sri Lankan Buddhists. There is a great belief among the Buddhists in this country that the Lord Buddha who worked in this country at the invitation of Lord Sumana Saman set up a mark on his left sacred foot on this hill. The footprint on the hill is believed to be of Lord Shiva by Hindus and is believed by Catholics to be the footprint of Adam. 
Samanala Kanda is 2243 meters high. Mount Sri Pada is located as a mountain range. Gata Nillakanda, Banasamanala and Kunudiya rock are located here. Sri Pada Kanda is located in the Ratnapura District. The Mahaweli, the fourth major river in Sri Lanka, is the Kelani. The rivers Kalu and Walawe also start from the top of Samanala Kanda.
